How to do it:

  1. Just before you take your first bite of a meal, quickly in your mind, "rewind" the ingredients to their source form. This could be to seeds in the ground, or to an animal still alive.

  2. From that origin point, imagine each step this ingredient went along its way, and to each person who interacted with it at that stage.

  3. Offer up a "thank you" to each step, and each person.

  4. Eat

    Example:

    - Seed in soil; Thank you to energy from the sun and water to nurture it

    - Harvested; Thank you to the farmer

    - Prepped and packaged; Thank you to the helpers

    - Shipped; thank you to the drive

    - Prepared and cooked; Thank you to the chef

-Served; Thank you to the waitstaff / family / friends/ self

This ritual pairs nicely with Dining with Ancestors and Life feeding Life.

Why do it:

Instead of diving right into a meal, often on autopilot, this brings our full presence to the gift that has been presented. Bringing gratitude to each person sends love, blessings, and good energy out to those who did this work for you, and adds more vitality to the energy you're about to consume.
