How to do it:

  1. Break off about 18 inches of floss and wind most of it around one of your middle fingers. Wind the remaining floss around the same finger of the opposite hand. This finger will take up the floss as it becomes dirty.

  2. Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers.

  3. Guide the floss between your teeth using a gentle rubbing motion. Never snap the floss into the gums.

  4. When the floss reaches the gum line, curve it into a C shape against one tooth.

  5. Gently rub the side of the tooth, moving the floss away from the gum with up and down motions.

  6. Repeat this method on the rest of your teeth. Remember to do the back side of your last molar.

  7. Smile and be grateful for those teeth and all that they do.

Why do it:

We know we should floss, yet most people simply don’t. Until it’s too late.

Besides the obvious health reasons to floss everyday, such as removing plaque and bacteria, and, strengthening the gums, this daily ritual is an act of self love.

Our teeth are precious.

Elderly people in the end of their life, when asked what they would have done differently, replied by saying that they would of taken better care of their teeth.

This small act of love is a way to gift our future self with a healthy mouth and honor these precious little chompers.
