How to do it:

  1. State a goal you'd like to accomplish

  2. Break it down into the smallest tasks or steps, in order from now until complete.

  3. Choose a date on the calendar in which to have the final goal completed

  4. Divide up that time and put smaller milestones along the way to spread out the progress.

Example: If a goal that should take 1 month, break it into 4 weeks, and accomplish the first 25% (or first few tasks) by the end of week 1, and so forth.

  5. Choose a friend to be an accountability buddy. Check in with them on a semi-regularly cycle

Optional: Add a reward and/or punishment to increase the pressure.

Why do it:

We don't eat a pizza all at once. We cut it into slices. Only looking at a big goal is overwhelming, so we too need to break it into smaller milestones. Having an accountability buddy to encourage us and add some extra pressure will dramatically increase our chances of not falling short. With this simple process, anything is possible.
